Small players with no real competitive advantages find themselves buffeted by macro-economic, tsunami-scale forces created by players that hold all the levers. Recent news that our steel industry is put under the rollers (pun intended) by cheaper imports from China laid the truth bare – competitive advantage (natural resource or simply cash) is real, competition is ruthless, market is unforgiving, and if you’re not in possession of what matters as competitive levers, you won’t be in the ring for long.

Whilst one nation’s strategy is rolling competition to pulp, another nation’s strategy of pumping competitors to death is creating more than ripples in the pond. Major players are flexing, forcing the collapse of smaller ones and influencing economic well-being of nations.
